Core system entities include:

Task (Work Order) – Represents a unit of work to be performed. Synonyms used for “task” include: work order, job, assignment.
Resource (Performer) – Represents an individual, work group, team, or company capable of performing a certain type of job and to whom tasks (work orders) may be assigned.
Work Group (Team) – A collection of resources (performers), either temporary or long-term. From a scheduling perspective, a work group represents a composite resource to which tasks can be assigned.
